400+ Unique, Cute, Awesome Cat Tattoos For Cat Lovers

It all started about 50 million years ago. At that time there was a marten-like mammal (called miacidia) from which all carnivores came. Today's cats, too, have our earliest origins there and have therefore existed for far longer than humans.

In the course of evolution, new species developed from our ancestors, which adapted to the most diverse habitats on the whole earth and quickly spread everywhere.

How did the cat become a pet?

You humans only became interested in us when you settled down. Here, however, scientists found that we voluntarily joined people, not how many of you think that you were taming us. You can still observe this behavior with us.

In Egypt, the first falcon cats (this wild cat still lives there today) discovered about 5000 years ago that there were plenty of rats and mice in the granaries of the Egyptians. They quickly noticed that we cats are very useful and therefore worshiped us in the form of the cat goddess Bastet. The Egyptians quickly learned to appreciate us and probably chose a particularly trusting specimen, because soon we were no longer found only in the granary, but increasingly also in temples or noble houses.

Finally, the Egyptians even banned us from being exported from their country to other continents or countries because we did such an excellent job in their granary and they wanted to keep this privilege to themselves.

This must have been quite unimportant to the Greeks, since this already around 550 BC. The first of us cats from Egypt secretly took them home by sea, and thus brought them to Europe to secure their own supplies.

Once in Europe, the fallow cat mingled with the European wildcat. In the 19th century we started to breed us specifically by breed and the first exhibitions took place.

In the meantime we are so popular with you that we have even pushed the dog out of number 1 of the most popular pets! 7.8 million cats in German households in 2006, and the number is growing!

Here are the amazing tattoos of our closest friends and housemates!
